Launched in November 2007, met:space was Leeds’ first coworking space, located in the former BBC building known as Old Broadcasting House, now owned by Leeds Met university.
Drawing on the values and manifesto articulated by San Francisco’s original coworking community, The Hat Factory, Carbon was commissioned by the university’s New Technology Institute to develop branding, pricing, service plans and a website to launch the met:space to local citizens. Carbon also began to develop a community development programme, hosting and curating events to draw potential members into the space.
